Different shapes of the groove opening
Rectangular groove mold
Forming groove: bottom flat two side walls straight → close to a rectangle
The bottom is flat, and side walls are close to vertical.
U-shaped groove mold
Forming groove: bottom with a circular arc transition side walls oblique/straight → overall like a U
The bottom is not flat, it is a circular arc R base.
2. Different stress and strain
Rectangular groove
The stress is concentrated at the bottom corners, can easily crack and break.
U-shaped groove
The circular arc base disperses the stress, has higher strength, and is less likely to crack.
3. Different in demolding
Rectangular groove
The side walls are straight, demolding is difficult, and a small demolding slope must be made, otherwise, it is prone to jam and chipping.
U-shaped groove
The bottom is smooth, and with the natural slope, demolding is smooth and does not damage the product easily.
4. flow and forming effects
Rectangular groove
Material (concrete/plastic) is not easy to fill at the corners, and air holes and missing corners are prone to occur
U-shaped groove
The flow is smooth, the forming is full and the appearance is good.
5. Different application scenarios
Rectangular groove molds are often used:
Slots that need to be installed with a flat bottom
Installation of guide rails, card slots, positioning slots
Structural slots that require a regular flat surface
